KETASOL 10%

Solution for Injection

COMPOSITION

KETASOL 10% is a clear, colorless solution for injection, each 1 ml contains:

Ketamine hydrochloride 100mg

Contains Benzethonium chloride   0.1 mg .

SPECIAL CLINICAL INFORMATION AND SPECIAL WARNINGS FOR TARGET SPECIES

Ketamine is a potent anesthetic and all precautions should be taken in anesthesia.

Preanesthetic period:Food intake should be discontinued 10 hours before anesthesia. Since laryngeal and pharyngeal reflexes remain active during ketamine anesthesia and ketamine may have a salivation stimulating effect, the risk of hypersalivation should be avoided. To prevent hypersalivation in cats and dogs, secretion inhibitory drugs such as Atropine and Scopolamine should be used. Adrenergic drugs should not be given because Ketamine causes hypertension. Since the eyes remain open during ketamine anesthesia, drying of the cornea should be prevented with an eye ointment.

UNDESIRED/SIDE EFFECTS

Reversible and preventable side effects such as keeping the eyes open, nystagmus, mydriasis, increased muscle tone, tachycardia, hypertonia, salivation may occur. Respiratory depression may occur and transient bradycardia may occur in intravenous administration.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Anesthesia induced with ketamine; It increases and deepens with neuroleptics (especially antipsychotic agents that affect psychomotoric activity without any hypnotic effect), sedatives, and also chloramphenicol.

Pesticides, herbicides, and other environmental toxins stimulate microsomal metabolizing enzymes. This stimulation increases the rate of metabolism of Ketamine, reducing its effectiveness and duration of anesthesia.

Different solutions should not be used together with the same injector due to chemical reactions and also changes in the effect. It is recommended to apply different solutions with separate sterile syringes and inject them at different points.

SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSE, PRECAUTIONS AND ANTIDOTE

Although ketamine has a great therapeutic tolerance, recommended doses and mode of use should be followed. Overdose due to incorrect application causes respiratory depression. In this case, controlled ventilation, thoracic massage and oxygen administration together with analeptic drugs should be applied. There is no specific antidote.

WARNINGS ABOUT DRUG RESIDUES IN FOOD

Drug residue washout time (withdrawal); It is “0” (zero) days for meat and milk.

GENERAL WARNINGS

During its use, the recommended dosage and rules should be strictly followed.
